God. I love playoff hockey. It just makes this time of year so much more awesome. It coincides with the start of baseball season and the NBA playoffs, and as a result, gives you something to look forward to every night.

Here is my preview of the NHL’s 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs 1st round.

Eastern Conference


(1) Boston Bruins vs (8) Montreal Canadiens
Sorry Montreal, your fans cant stuff a ballot box to elect you out of this mess.
Boston wins in 5.




(2) Washington Capitals vs. (7) New York Rangers
The Crapitals should make fairly easy work of the Rags. Obitchken and Semen will be too much for Jokeqvidst to handle. Though who knows, because Washington always chokes in the springtime.

(3) New Jersey Devils vs. (6) Carolina Hurricanes
I’m sure Marty Brodeur is worried about the hundreds of thousands in alimony and child support he is going to have to pay after having an affair with his sister…. oops, I mean sister in-law. So I expect him to play hard for a playoff bonus.

(4) Pittsburgh Penguins vs. (5) Philadelphia Flyers
The Pens are winning this series, that isn’t even in question. The only questions here are going to be… 1) How many tears will Danielle Brier shed when she gets laid out by Brooks Orpik? 2) How many dents will Riley Cote have in his stupid face after Eric Godard get’s a hold of him? 3) How many boys will Mike Richards try to proposition at Chuck E Cheese after each game?

Western Conference


(1) San Jose Sharks vs. (8) Anaheim Ducks
Here is a western conference showdown that I couldn’t care less about. Ducks rhymes with Sucks, and that is a pretty good way to describe Anaheim this year.

(2) Detroit Red Wings vs. (7) Columbus Bluejackets
Blowout city. It’s cute that you finally got to the playoffs, Blow Jokets, and it will bring some excitement to the city I live in, But you just ran into a wrecking ball. Please, spare me the “Durr but we always play good against them in the regular season omg lol!” crap. You’ve never seen a playoff Wings team. You’re going to get wrecked.

(3) Vancouver Canucks vs. (6) St. Louis Blues
Another western conference series I don’t care about. St. Louis has been as hot as anyone lately though, so I will give them the edge here.

(4) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (5) Calgary Flames
Wow, Crackhawks and Flamers. The Jackoffhawks have “The Bulin Wall” so I guess I would give them the edge in goaltending, while the Flamers have Jarome Iginla. I dont know….
I say Blackcocks in 6. Why not?

I woke up sick today, with a sore throat. I went to work, but was back home by 9:30, where I decided to hole up in my room and sleep the rest of the day. So now, I am wide awake with nothing to do, so here are some things I decided to comment on…

Yeah, it sucks that OSU lost yet another bowl game, but I’m not hanging my head too low about it. We lost in a great game to a team that some considered to be the best in the country. They had a senior QB, we had a freshman. All in all though, the thing that impressed me is that the team did not quit. That is something to be proud of. Texas is a class school, with class fans. This also softens the blow. We will be back. With these classes that Tress is pulling in now, things should be really good shortly.

Tim Tebow… Look, I understand the appeal. The guy is a brilliant athlete, and one hell of a guy by all accounts. However, the media makes me want to hate him. I dont think there has ever been a collegiate athlete who has been talked about and sucked on as much as Tim Tebow. Tonight on the National Championship Game broadcast, one of the broadcasters said “If you have been fortunate enough to spend even five or ten minutes around Tim Tebow, you’re a better person for it”.
Who says that??? You’d think this guy is the second coming of Jesus Christ, or Phil Hartman.

BTW everyone, I switched back to Verizon. Sprint was ok, but they crippled all their PDA phones, so if you had a Pocket PC phone like I did, or a Blackberry, you didnt have access to all the little things Sprint offers (and you pay for) such as picture/video mail, sprint TV, NFL mobile, etc. So I found a sweet deal on a Blackberry and I will have it via UPS tomorrow. This works out even better because literally like 90% of people I know use Verizon already, and I only know like 2 people who were on Sprint.
